True Colors Cabaret Supports LGBT Equality
August 23, 2009 ·
The True Colors Tour has partnered with Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, Broadway Impact, and the True Colors Fund to present the True Colors Cabaret, a monthly series in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) equality.  Each show will intertwine performers from the world of Broadway and popular music, along with a celebrity host.   100% of the net proceeds from each show will go directly to the True Colors Fund and Broadway Impact.

The True Colors Tour was conceived by music and gay rights icon Cyndi Lauper stemming from her desire to celebrate the LGBT community and advocate for the basic values and freedoms that should be shared by all Americans. Fans experience these values through the music of both legendary icons and the newest and coolest acts this generation has to offer.  The Tour has traveled across North America the past two years to critical acclaim and wildly enthusiastic crowds.

“I am proud to announce that the True Colors Tour and True Colors Fund have joined forces with Broadway Impact and Feinstein’s at Loews Regency to produce a unique cabaret series to raise awareness about GLBT equality,” said Lauper.  “Sara Bareilles, Gavin Creel, Stephanie J. Block and Melinda Doolittle are among the incredible performers to have already signed on to be part of True Colors Cabaret.   Can you believe it?  Amazing.  So please come join us for what promises to be a series of great shows in support of an important cause.”

“Broadway Impact is thrilled to be a part of this exciting venture with The True Colors Tour and Feinstein’s,” said Gavin Creel.  “The work that Cyndi Lauper and the True Colors Fund does is truly incredible and it is the perfect team for us to partner up with. We hope the Broadway community will lead the fight for equality here in New York and across the nation, and bringing this cabaret series to fruition is an amazing opportunity to spread our message that action equals equality.”

“Many years ago, Irving Berlin stated: ‘music makes history, and history makes music,’” said Michael Feinstein.  “On behalf of Feinstein’s, we are proud to collaborate with True Colors and Broadway Impact to make music for change, equality and history. And in the process we’ll all have a heck of a lot of fun!”

The inaugural True Colors Cabaret will take place on Monday, September 28th at 8:00 pm.  The evening, hosted by Grammy® and Emmy® winning singer/actress Cyndi Lauper, will feature performances by Helen Hayes Award winning and Drama Desk nominated singer/actress Stephanie J. Block (9 to 5, Wicked, The Boy From Oz) and American Idol Finalist and critically acclaimed recording artist, Melinda Doolittle.

The second show in the series will take place on Monday, October 26th at 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm.   The evening, again hosted by Cyndi Lauper, will feature performances by two time Grammy® nominated singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles and two time Tony® nominated singer/actor Gavin Creel (Hair, Thoroughly Modern Millie).   The 8:00 pm show has already sold out in pre-sale, a limited number of tickets are still available for the 10:30 pm show that was just added.

The shows have a $40.00 cover with a limited number of $60.00 premium seats available, both with a $25.00 food and beverage minimum.  VIP ticket package includes a front row table of 4 for $500 with meet and greet with at least one of the performers or host.  Jackets are suggested but not required.  Feinstein’s at Loews Regency is located at 540 Park Avenue at 61st Street in New York City.  For tickets, visit or call (212) 339-4095.   Performers and hosts are subject to change.  Line-ups and dates for shows in November and December will be announced soon.
